Does the lake need another portal site?
Living in a vacation mecca such as Lake of the Ozarks you find there are hundreds of people vying for the attention of both tourists and local residents. In my never ending online journey I have begin to notice just how many sites there are that try to grab your attention here in Lake of the Ozarks area.
Continue reading to see the variety of designs and portal sites found in the Ozarks. Some of these sites need a website uplift others just need some minor tweaks to be more user friendly and also to come up in search engine results higher.
Let me know if I missed one and what you think of these sites. Do these sites work for your business? Are these good places to advertise? Would there be something more useful?
Ozarks Portal and Directory Sites
Lake Expo – A basic portal with news, ads, classifieds and pictures.
Lake Ozark Now – This site is a standard portal with lots going on.
Lake News Online – This is the online face of the local news group serving the Lake communities. They also use twitter. There is a sports account, http://twitter.com/thelakesports and the news tweets, http://twitter.com/LakeNewsOnline.
Ozarks First – If you watch Springfield local news you will see tv ads for this one all the time. Unfortunately this site doesn’t work in Chrome browser but it does in Firefox.
Ask The Ozarks – this is a new site that recently I saw on a local tv station commercial. I believe it was created to compete with ozarks first.
Live Lake Ozarks – terms themselves as the official lake of the ozarks website. The exact same content is at two sites http://www.odd.net/ or http://www.livelakeozarks.com/.
Lake of the Ozarks Bars – this is just a site with all or nearly all the bars listed in the lake of the Ozarks. They also go buy lotobars.com which you might see on advertising around the lake.
Lake of the Ozarks Vacation Guide – the website is a resource for visitors to the lake. Recently they updated their site with this clean look.
